Transitioning from high school to post-secondary, or to working, is a big step in a youth’s life. The transition can be both challenging and exciting, as you encounter new environments, people and experiences. To help Deaf and hard of hearing students navigate the transition from high school to post-secondary or employment, Canadian Hearing Services, has developed a Youth Transition Guide.
The purpose of the Youth Transition Guide is to support students in the pursuit of their ambitions and goals after high school and encourage independence, self-determination and self-advocacy. The guide provides information on:
- Rights and responsibilities
- Different pathways available after high school
- Employment and job search information
- Other support and information important for success
