Sightline to Safety

CHS is working with the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office to promote awareness of the Sightline to Safety program and will continue working with our local Fire Departments who have already adopted this program in their area. This program was developed by the Brockville and Severn Township fire departments, in partnership with CHS.

The program involves:

  • Registering deaf and hard-of-hearing people with the fire department to ensure appropriate response to a fire in their home
  • Conducting a home fire safety assessment
  • Providing appropriate detection devices

CHS is supportive of the program and would welcome partnering with local fire departments to provide this service to their Deaf and hard of hearing clients.

Sightline to Safety kit:

The Sightline to Safety kit includes some resources for local fire department considering implementing this program in their community.

The Sightline to Safety kit has been adapted from Severn Fire and Emergency Services with permission. The Sightline to Safety kit was created by Dianne Kyle, Fire Prevention Officer, Severn Fire and Emergency Services, and is shared with permission.
