The Hearing Foundation of Canada Joins Canadian Hearing Services’ Global Partnerships for Research & Innovation, to Advance the Future of Hearing Health

March 24, 2022, TORONTO - The Global Partnerships for Research & Innovation arm of Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) is pleased to announce that effective today, The Hearing Foundation of Canada, a non-profit dedicated to improving hearing health in Canada since 1979, will join the Global Partnerships for Research & Innovation organization (Global Partnerships for R&I).

The incorporation of The Hearing Foundation of Canada under the Global Partnerships for R&I division of CHS enables a more singular evidence-based focus on hearing health research on a global scale, which in turn will benefit even more people who are Deaf or living with hearing loss, both in Canada and around the world.

The recently launched CHS Global Partnerships for R&I has a vision to be the leading, internationally recognized research and innovation partnership for the advancement of hearing health and its social determinants. The Hearing Foundation of Canada brings a strong pedigree of supporting Canadians with early diagnosis and prevention of hearing loss, in addition to leading-edge medical research relating to hearing health.  By uniting and consolidating these efforts together, under the CHS banner within Global Partnerships for R&I, the impact and benefit to the hard of hearing and Deaf communities in Canada and abroad, can be meaningfully accelerated.

This amalgamation marks a key step for CHS Global Partnerships for R&I, as it embarks on a journey to build an organization that connects resources, expertise, and passion, to create impactful change and advance the quality of life of Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.

“CHS Global Partnerships for Research & Innovation is thrilled to have The Hearing Foundation of Canada join forces with our organization.  Our combined and consolidated governance and operations will further enable our efforts to secure and strengthen leading edge research with the goal of significantly advancing the quality of life for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals,” says Julia Dumanian, President and CEO of CHS Global Partnerships for Research & Innovation.

“The vision and direction of CHS Global Partnerships for Research & Innovation strongly align with those of The Hearing Foundation of Canada, making this union a natural fit,” said Jonathan Preece, (past) Board Chair for The Hearing Foundation of Canada.

CHS Global Partnerships for R&I will be inviting initial submissions for two-year research grants in April 2022 and will announce the successful recipients in December 2022.
