Woman outside smiling and using smart phone

"Hello, my name is Ruby. I am culturally Deaf and my first language is American Sign Language (ASL). The counselling services at Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) have always been such an important part of my life over the years. But when COVID-19 disrupted the world, my counsellor’s support became even more crucial. Debbie, my counsellor, and I could no longer meet face-to-face. So, she taught me how to use Skype, making it so much easier for me to communicate with her and others.  Debbie also helped me to book  a doctor’s appointments and arranged for an ASL interpreter to be present at appointments, which make me feel much more relieved. I also feel more confident using technology – it allows me to be more independent and stay connected with others. Thank you for your help CHS!" - Ruby (*Client requested her real name not be used)
