November 16, 2017 - Toronto, ON -  An estimated 350,000 Deaf and hard of hearing residents of Quebec will soon have greater access to high-quality communications devices as part of the Canadian Hearing Society’s efforts to serve more communities across Canada.

“This is an exciting time for the Canadian Hearing Society and further reinforces our commitment to helping Deaf and hard of hearing Canadians overcome barriers to participation at work, at home, at school, and in their communities,” says Julia Dumanian, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Hearing Society.

Our state-of-the-art devices include custom-designed smoke detectors, amplified phones, and alarm clocks that use light and vibration to signal the start of a new day. For Deaf and hard of hearing people, these devices represent greater safety, independence and inclusion in society.

Proceeds from the sale of Canadian Hearing Society communication devices are invested back into community programs, services and products for Deaf and hard of hearing Canadians to ensure barrier-free access for all.

The Canadian Hearing Society communication devices will be available to Quebec residents beginning January 1, 2018 and can be obtained after consultation with an audiologist through one of the distributors of assistive listening devices.
