Conveniently located in the heart of Ottawa at the crossroads of Riverside Drive and Bank Street, CHS Ottawa is found near the Billings Bridge Shopping Centre and Transitway Station, the South East Ottawa Community Health Centre and the Rideau River Pathway. First opened in 1962, CHS Ottawa offers its services in ASL, LSQ, English and French, and is wheelchair accessible.

Communication Devices
We offer expert advice, sales, installation and training on a wide range of communication devices to enhance communication for culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people.
We’re here to help you find the best technical solutions, at the best price, to enhance communication in your home or at your business, organization or facility.
We offer devices on loan for our clients to try out or borrow if their own devices are in repair. We also accept used and broken devices for recycling.
We offer free offsite consultations for individuals in their homes. Consultations at workplaces and organizations may have a cost dependent on location. Workshops or displays are available upon request from interested groups.

Educational Support Services
If you’re a culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened or hard of hearing part-time student registered at a publicly-funded Ontario college or university, you can apply for free classroom accommodations so you can participate in the classroom experience.
Educational Support Services are offered at most CHS locations.

Sign language interpreters
Ontario Interpreting Services at CHS provides American Sign Language (ASL)-English interpreting services across Ontario, and la langue des signes québécoise (LSQ)–French interpreting services primarily in the Ottawa and Sudbury regions, but arrangements can be made for other locations in the province.
For your convenience, all bookings are done through our centralized scheduling centre in Ottawa.

Monday-Thursday 8 AM-8 PM
Friday 8 AM-5 PM
Hearing tests
We offer hearing tests for adults and children aged 3 years and over. If you have a hearing loss, an experienced audiologist will help find the best solution for you.

Hearing aid services
If you need a hearing aid for the first time or want to replace one you already have, our experienced audiologists will make sure you find the one that’s right for your hearing loss and your budget.
We sell batteries, hearing aid accessories and assistive listening devices, and also offer hearing aid and FM system consultations. We can also provide replacements when your hearing aids are out for repairs.
We accept payment from various funding and assistance programs, including ODSP, Blue Cross Veteran’s Affairs, WSIB, and NHIB.

Hearing help classes
Don’t give up your favourite activities because of hearing loss. We offer Hearing Help classes so you can learn about:
- hearing loss and hearing aids
- communication devices
- speech reading and communication strategies
- assertiveness training and stress management
- and much more
Meet other people with hearing loss and share common experiences. Bring your spouse or a friend so you can both benefit.

CONNECT Counselling Services
We offer free professional counselling services to culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing individuals of all ages, and their families, dealing with mental health issues, addiction, relationship problems, domestic violence or other serious challenges.

General support services
We offer guidance, advocacy, support and counselling to culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing individuals who request assistance to manage everyday life events including completing government forms and developing strategies to cope with hearing loss.
We offer presentations, workshops and displays on- and off-site to the deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing communities. Deaf Socials are offered once a month on a Wednesday morning.

Hearing Care Counselling
If you’re 55 or older and have a hearing loss, we offer free counselling services to help you improve communication with family and friends, stay involved in social activities, and remain safe and independent at home. Home visits can be arranged as required.
We also serve younger adults (aged 19 and over) with other challenges as well as hearing loss who require home-based services
Our counsellors can also educate care providers, service providers and support groups on how to provide accessible services for people with hearing loss.

Services for job seekers
Our employment consultants specialize in the unique needs of adults aged 16 and over who are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing to help you find a job and succeed at work.
