The Honourable David C. Onley
The Honourable David C. Onley was appointed Ontario’s 28th Lieutenant Governor (2007-2014), the first with a physical disability. He adopted accessibility as the overarching theme of his mandate, defining accessibility as “that which enables people to achieve their full potential”. Prior to his vice-regal appointment, Mr. Onley enjoyed a 22-year career as a television journalist and news anchor for CityTv and CP24 in Toronto. Mr. Onley has received many awards in recognition for his advocacy, service and commitment to accessibility. He is a member of the Order of Ontario and was recently named to the Order of Canada. He holds a degree in political science from the University of Toronto.
