Gifts in the Will ASL

Leaving a gift to Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) in your will is a wonderful way to recognize the difference CHS has made in your life and make a lasting impact on the lives of others.

A gift in the will, or a bequest, is the most lasting gift you can give to Canadian Hearing Services. It’s an opportunity to make a sizeable donation you may not be able to contribute in your lifetime.

If you are interested in leaving a bequest to Canadian Hearing Services, or have already included us in your estate plan but have not informed us, please complete our Bequest Notification Form or contact our fundraising department at

We encourage you to consult with your legal and/or financial advisors to help you create your bequest. They may recommend other types of gifts (shares, property, works of art, etc.) that are more appropriate to your situation.

Here are some Charitable Bequest Language Examples for how you can name CHS in your will.

Stocks and Securities ASL

The May 2, 2006 federal budget presented donors and charities with a very big gift: the complete elimination of all capital gains tax on donations of publicly listed securities to public charities. If you own stocks or mutual funds that have grown in value, you will face a tax bill when you sell them. By donating them directly to Canadian Hearing Services, you can reduce your tax bill and make a significant gift at the same time.

Benefits to you:

  • Opportunity to make a significant gift
  • Receive a charitable tax receipt for the full value
  • Pay no capital gains
  • Securities are easy to transfer
  • Recognition during your lifetime
How to Donate Securities
  1. Complete the Letter of Instruction to Transfer Securities to Canadian Hearing Services.
  2. Contact the fundraising department at or 1-866-518-0000.
  3. Upon completion of the transaction, a tax receipt for the amount of the donation will be sent to you.

If you would like to learn more about donating publicly listed securities to Canadian Hearing Services, please contact our fundraising department at or 1-866-518-0000.

We strongly recommend you seek professional advice to ensure your financial goals are considered, your tax situation is reviewed, and your Planned Gift is tailored to your circumstances.
