June 27, 2018 – TORONTO, ON – With the unanimous endorsement of their bargaining team, CUPE Local 2073 members voted overwhelmingly to ratify a new three-year collective agreement with the Canadian Hearing Society (CHS). The new agreement allows CHS to continue delivering essential programs and services to Deaf and hard of hearing Canadians with the invaluable support of CUPE Local 2073 members.

“For weeks, both negotiating teams worked collaboratively to create a modern, progressive and professional agreement. We are very pleased the members of CUPE Local 2073 have ratified the recommended agreement”, said Julia Dumanian, President and CEO. “This agreement ensures that we will be able to continue to deliver best-in-class programs, products, and services for the thousands of clients and families we serve. Thank you and congratulations to the negotiating teams for their diligence and commitment in reaching this sustainable agreement that meets the needs of both the organization and our staff teams.”

The newly ratified collective agreement covers CUPE Local 2073 members in all 22 CHS locations. Along with the stability this new agreement brings, the Canadian Hearing Society will continue to focus on achieving its goals of the Strategic Plan which was significantly updated in June 2017. This Plan is centred on three fundamental and foundational elements: Get Focused, Get Great, Get National and it clearly reflects the CHS vision ‘To be the leading organization serving Deaf and hard of hearing Canadians by advancing a barrier-free society’.
