Recently, some of our consumers received an email notice about a tax refund claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency. It is not. We want our consumers to be aware of these fraudulent communications.

As stated on the CRA’s website:  “Occasionally, taxpayers may receive, either by telephone, mail, or email, a communication that claims to be from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) but is NOT. The CRA will not request personal information of any kind from a taxpayer by email.”

If you or anyone you know has received this kind of notice you can contact the CRA to verify the notice or contact the RCMP to report if you have responded to a fraudulent communication:

  • Canada Revenue Agency - call 1-800-959-8281 or TTY 1-800-665-0354
  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police's Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre info@antifraudcentre.ca or call 1-888-495-8501.

Protect yourself from fraud.
