Major Gifts

Your gift of $500 or more will have a major impact on CHS’s efforts to provide programs and services and advocate for our consumers who are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing.

To become a major gift donor, you can choose to:

  • designate your gift to a specific program or region, or
  • become a member of a CHS Butterfly Society.

About CHS Butterfly Societies

To welcome and recognize major donors who join us in our mission, we’ve created a number of Butterfly Societies at different giving levels:

Spring Azure Butterfly Society logo$500 Monarch Butterfly Society logo$1,000
Red Spotted Purple Butterfly Society logo$2,500 Red Admiral Butterfly Society logo$5,000 Green Longwing Butterfly Society logo $10,000

We chose the butterfly to symbolize the work we do because most butterflies are deaf. The butterfly’s miracle of transformation parallels the experience of many of our consumers who, with the help of our programs and support, emerge ready to spread their wings.

How your gift is allocated

As a member of a Butterfly Society, you’ll have the satisfaction of seeing your gift work at two important levels:

  • 50% of your gift will support local services delivered through the CHS office of your choice
  • 50% of your gift will support the work we do at the broader societal level – public policy development, research and distribution of information, and the provision of unfunded services – that has a positive impact on Canadians with hearing loss wherever they live

How we recognize your major gift

As a token of our gratitude you’ll receive:

  • A one-year CHS membership
  • Your gift listed in our annual report
  • A one-year subscription to Vibes, our semi-annual publication
  • Our donor newsletter, Get Connected

Butterfly Society majors donors will also receive a beautiful butterfly pin.
