Event Day Questions

What is a smartphone?

A smartphone is a mobile phone that offers more advanced computing ability and connectivity than a contemporary basic feature phone. A web-enabled phone with internet access and video feed, i.e.  iPhone or Blackberry.  Smartphones and feature phones may be thought of as handheld computers integrated within a mobile telephone, but while most feature phones are able to run applications based on platforms such as Java ME, a smartphone usually allows the user to install and run more advanced applications (the ever popular Apps!). Smartphones run complete operating system software providing a platform for application developers. Like feature phones, a Smartphone can be considered as a Personal Pocket Computer with mobile phone functions, because these devices are mainly computers, although much smaller than a desktop computer.

Can I use my own smartphone?

No.  All event phones will be uploaded with event clues and therefore we cannot allow participants to use their own devices.  One smartphone will be loaned to each team at registration. Photo ID will be required when picking up the smartphone. Your ID will be returned when you return the smartphone at the finish of the event.

What is a CHS QuestStop?

A CHS QuestStop is a location where you must perform an assigned task. You get to a CHS QuestStop by solving clues on your smartphone.

Do I have to be in good physical shape to participate?

The CHS QuestStops are designed to be a mental and physical challenge, but above all, fun! However, if any CHS QuestStop is too challenging, you can choose another less demanding one or a modified version will be made available to you.

What happens if there is a line-up at a CHS QuestStop?

It is possible to run into line-ups at the different CHS QuestStops so you must be sure to strategize your route. If you run into a line-up, you can always move on to a different CHS QuestStop.  Volunteers will do their best to ensure Questers move through each QuestStop as quickly as possible to avoid line-ups.  Most QuestStops will allow for more than one team to compete at a time.

What if it's raining on the event day?

Just like the Postal Service - nothing will stop CHS Quest! Keep in mind the weather forecast for event day and please dress appropriately.  Arrangements will be made if weather should put Questers at risk (i.e., thunder and lightning).

Are pets allowed to attend Quest?

Sorry, but no pets are allowed to participate in CHS Quest.
