Position: SUMMER STUDENT EVENT ADMINISTRATOR
Location: Kitchener Waterloo
Start Date: Immediately
Minimum Start Salary: $11.00 per hour
Position Status: 12-week Contract; Full-time; 35 hours per week

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist in the event administration and planning of the regional golf tournament and other events and administrative support.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Media Relations
•    Assist with the development, implementation and distribution of marketing materials
•    Assist with fundraising efforts
•    Contact community members to encourage participation in events
•    Liaise with potential donors and sponsors to acquire support
•    Maintain database of information related to events
•    Participate in committee meetings
•    Other administrative duties as required such as front desk relief coverage, filing, faxing, and copying

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Experience working with general public
•    Good organizational skills
•    Analytical and problem solving skills
•    Interpersonal and presentation skills
•    Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
•    Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn
•    Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse environment, including awareness of culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing communities
•    Occasional travel required

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  all interested applicants must be between the age of 15 and 30, have attended full-time studies in the 2010-2011 academic year, and plan on returning to school full-time in September.
