Position: FINANCIAL ANALYST
Location: Financial Services Department, Toronto
Start Date: Immediately
Minimum Start Salary: $46,190 per annum
Position Status: Permanent; Full-time; 35 hours per week

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Analyze the financial results of the Society.  Coordinate the preparation of the CHS annual budget. Perform quality assurance reviews of the financial functions throughout the Society.  Liaise frequently with and assist Regional Directors, Managers and Senior Management regarding budgets and projections.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Service:

•    Perform analyses of financial data
•    Create and prepare all regular and ad hoc financial statements and reports
•    Provide back up support in the month end closing process
•    Prepare accounting analysis and journal entries for non-routine transactions and activities
•    Coordinate the budget process for all offices, including analysis and reporting
•    With some assistance from other Accounting Staff, coordinate process for internal self audits
•    Prepare and provide working papers for the annual audit; assist in the audit as required
•    Liaise with Regional Directors, Managers and Senior Management; respond to questions and provide information as required
•    Assist Controller and VP-CFO with special projects and assignments as needed.
•    Co-ordinate the preparation and review of ARR for LHIN/MoHLTC
•    Co-ordinate the preparation and review of APER for MCSS
•    Co-ordinate the preparation and review of quarterly reports to various funders such as LHIN and MCSS
•    Co-ordinate the completion of the Internal Control Self Assessment Program
•    Other duties as assigned

Administration:

•    Update and maintain office files as required
•    Responsible for photocopying appropriate information
•    Initiate and respond to correspondence as required
•    Other duties as assigned

Community Education:

Involved in internal campaigns and events such as MayMonth, Mayfest, United Way campaign

Professional Development:

•    Attend all department and agency staff meetings as required.
•    Achieve ASL proficiency to the level required for the position – Level 6

LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reports to the Controller

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    4 Years University Degree in Business or Accounting (or equivalent) or Level 4 CGA/CMA
•    3-5 years general accounting experience, including 1-2 years experience with financial analysis and preparation of financial statements
•    Strong analytical and problem solving skills
•    Very keen attention to detail and organizational skills
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet
•    Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to acquire proficiency to the level required for this position
•    Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse environment
