POSITION SUMMARY:

The Canadian Hearing Society has an exciting opportunity for a senior fundraiser to drive the institutional fund development revenue streams to increased heights.  Reporting to the Vice President, Fundraising & Strategic Communications, the Director of Institutional Giving will lead the creation, development, implementation and evaluation of all institutional revenue streams: Corporate, Government Project funding, Foundations, Signature Event sponsorship, and Service Clubs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Service:

For each institutional revenue stream in the following order of priority: Corporate Giving; Government Project Funding; Foundations, Signature Event Sponsorship, Service Clubs:

•    Develop, plan, implement and evaluate fundraising strategies for each revenue stream including prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities
•    Provide training and support to staff and volunteers, including board members, involved in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities
•    Work with program, department and senior management staff to develop and write winning funding proposals that support CHS priorities and match funder requirements and interests
•    Using personal knowledge of and experience with institutional funding opportunities, seek out and take advantage of these opportunities which often come with very tight turnaround times
•    Work with regional offices to strengthen the “asks” to institutions whose head offices are outside the GTA
•    Support regional efforts to secure institutional funding; ensure regional institutional fundraising efforts are aligned with and supportive of head office strategies
•    Develop policies and procedures to ensure consistent, professional and efficient business practice in all areas of institutional giving, including prospect clearance protocols
•    Develop and monitor annual budgets for each institutional revenue stream detailing quantitative objectives, operational issues and business plans
•    Review & monitor monthly financials, making adjustments as required
•    Produce monthly reports detailing ongoing fund development activities and results
•    Develop and foster relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to strengthen funding proposals
•    Participate in the planning and execution of the annual signature event, CHS Quest
•    Oversee and manage the day-to-day work of the Manager, Fund Development.  Mentor and support this position to build a winning team

LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reports to Vice President, Fundraising & Strategic Communications

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    University degree or equivalent combination of experience and education; CFRE an asset
•    5 – 10 years fundraising experience
•    Proven track record of securing major gifts from institutional donors/funders
•    Established network of institutional contacts
•    Knowledge of institutional grant opportunities and cycles and relevant legislation
•    Experience in volunteer recruitment, coordination and training
•    Compelling, exceptional writing & presentation skills
•    Budget development and control experience
•    Proficiency in MS Office and Internet; fundraising database (Sage)
•    Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable car; willingness to travel; some evenings/weekends
•    Proficiency in ASL or willingness to acquire proficiency to the required level; French an asset
