Position: Systems & Networks Administrator
Location: Toronto, OIS Provincial
Start Date: Immediately
Minimum Start Salary: $54,252 per annum
Position Status: Permanent, Full-time; 35 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for day-to-day technical monitoring, administration, setup, support and update of the video conference network system and its associated CHS regional offices.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provincial Direct Services – Videoconference Systems

•    Respond to day-to-day user queries regarding the video conference systems
•    Train staff members in the use of videoconference
•    Plan and execute provincial videoconference installations and  upgrades
•    Develop and maintain CHS standards for video conference
•    Monitor routine operations of systems for QoS and provide support services to CHS offices
•    Perform site analysis, makes recommendations and installs video conference systems for all CHS offices
•    Provides external consulting and support services as contracted
•    Maintain an inventory of all videoconferencing equipment, software and related equipment for the province.
•    Liaise with IT department.
•    Provide back-up to the Videoconferencing Booking Coordinator when necessary.
•    Provide after hours and weekend technical support for videoconference calls.
•    Liaise with managers agency-wide to provide Videoconference expertise.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Regional Direct Services –Videoconferencing network

•    Maintain directory services for video conferencing Multipoint Control Unit
•    Maintain videoconferencing end points and Multipoint Control Unit
•    Monitor all routine videoconferencing network operations and maintains CHS standards
•    Monitor and maintain videoconferencing network and system security and related equipment
•    Monitor and maintain daily backup operations for the video conferencing network
•    Monitor the video conferencing helpdesk  trouble ticketing system
•    Plan and execute regional videoconferencing system upgrades,
•    Liaise with IT department at Head Office
•    Participate in external consulting and support service activities, as required.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Administration:

•    Research, negotiate and recommend use of videoconferencing technology/hardware suppliers and service providers
•    Research and recommend applications of emerging technologies for videoconferencing including the development special technology projects as required.
•    Research costing recommendations for videoconferencing technology initiatives projects
•    Schedule the testing of emerging videoconferencing technologies and maintain data records for these technologies
•    Perform demonstrations of videoconferencing systems for internal and external users and potential clients
•    Initiate and respond to correspondence and TTY/telephone calls
•    Prepare and submit reports, proposals, tenders and quotes
•    Receive, package and ship equipment
•    Update and maintain office files
•    Initiate, develop and maintain user manuals, support documents and resource materials for  users
•    Maintain accurate records and statistics
•    Other duties as assigned.

Community Education:

•    Participate in the marketing and promotional activities of the IT department
•    Participate in community events and special project; May month, United Way Campaigns
•    As required, assist  OIS Director in the preparation of other community projects

Professional Development:


•    Attend internal regional and provincial meetings
•    Attend external exploratory and planning meetings
•    Participate in workshops, seminars and continuing education courses related to the position
•    Keep updated on issues and information on agency activities and needs as they  relate to existing and emerging technologies
•    Achieve and maintains level of ASL proficiency as published by HR

Director, OIS Provincial, Toronto

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Three year college diploma in Computer Sciences or equivalent
•    Formal training on videoconferencing network architecture (routing, switching, videoconferencing equipment and protocols)
•    5-7 years related work experience
•    Strong creativity, problem solving and analytical skills
•    Self-motivated and self-directed
•    Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communications skills
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet
•    Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn; French and LSQ assets
•    Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse environment
•    Regular travel to all CHS offices throughout Ontario
•    Some evenings and weekends
