What is speechreading?

Q: What is speechreading?

A: Speechreading is the process of watching someone's mouth, facial expressions and body language as they speak in order to help determine what they're saying.  For example, many vowels and consonants have distinct mouth shapes which, if you are missing the sounds, can provide essential speech clues.
