POSITION SUMMARY:
The Canadian Hearing Society (CHS) is seeking an innovative, dynamic and results oriented Manager, Fund Development to add to our fundraising team. You will work to expand CHS’s institutional giving program through varied funding avenues including philanthropic giving, sponsorships and government grants.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Service:
• Working as a key member of the development team to implement the fundraising plan and to ensure the realization of the Society’s fundraising goals
• Researching and identifying grant-making organizations aligned with CHS needs including foundations, service clubs and government project funding
• Conducting the full range of activities required to research, write, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundations, government and service clubs; including budget development and management
• Implementing and monitoring donor/sponsor recognition plans to encourage and reinforce long-term relationships between donors and CHS
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders in the delivery of CHS's signature fundraising event
• Identify potential multi-agency strategic partnerships with funding and non-funding agencies
• Acquire and maintain a sound knowledge and understanding of CHS, and use that knowledge and understanding to write compelling grant proposals
• Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting
Professional Development
• Attend specialized workshops/seminars related to position
• Acquire and maintain the ASL proficiency requirement for the position (Intermediate Plus);
• Keep up to date on issues and information related to the profession, position and agency;
• Attend staff meetings as required.
LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Reports to Director, Corporate & Foundation Giving
QUALIFICATIONS:
• University Degree or equivalent
• Minimum 3-5 years experience in a fundraising environment, with proven results
• Minimum 3-5 years experience in a non-profit organization
• Superior writing and research skills, with proven results
• Excellent networking, presentation and interpersonal skills, including ability to encourage and motivate donors
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Fluency in fundraising management software in addition to MS Office Suite
• Excellent strategic thinking and tactical planning skills
• Strong project management skills, with proven ability to manage timelines and budgets
• Strong work ethic, results-oriented, team player, committed to supporting the not-for-profit sector
• Proficiency in ASL or willingness to learn
• Clear understanding and strict adherence to ethical fundraising standards
• Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse environment
