Speech And Hearing Loss
Speech difficulties resulting from a hearing loss can be treated with the help of a speech-language pathologist. The Canadian Hearing Society offers a Speech-Language Pathology service for both children and adults.
Adults
This program focuses on improving speech and voice by helping you learn about correct breathing, clear voice production, pitch, loudness control, and the correct articulation of speech sounds. The Speech-Language Pathologists at The Canadian Hearing Society have training and experience to help you improve your speech clarity and have computer programs that allow you to see your own voice and speech.
Children
The Speech-Language Pathologists at The Canadian Hearing Society help children learn to listen to their own speech and the speech of the people around them so they can follow the natural developmental stages of speech development. Therapy occurs in a natural play-like environment. Parents are coached on what they can do at home to create better listening environments for their children (e.g. reduce noise) and help children pay attention to the sounds and voices they hear.
