Important changes to CHS's Ontario Interpreting Services

Hi! I want to let you know about some important changes that are coming to Ontario Interpreting Services to better serve our community.

We are starting preparations to bring you expanded services and expanded hours.  In the spring of 2013, you will be able to  request interpreting service through one new central location.  People requesting an interpreter - yourself, your employer, your doctor’s office, everyone – will contact Assignment Coordinators waiting to assist you in the new OIS call centre located in Ottawa.

When the new OIS call centre is operational, you will:

  • Have extended hours during the week to make pre-booked requests
  • Have improved service for emergency requests
  • Be able to make your requests in ASL or LSQ using Skype from your home computer
  • Call the service for free from anywhere in Ontario.

By consolidating the administrative work into one location, we can ensure that there are sufficient staff to meet your needs. Financial savings will go directly back into providing services to CHS’s communities, allowing us to better support our OIS-Registered interpreters through more professional development and better serve our valued clients.

Watch for more information coming this winter. If you have questions, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or Skype to ois.chs
