Development Coordinator – Individual Giving

Location: Fundraising Dept, Head Office - Toronto
Start Date: Immediately
Minimum Start Salary:

$40,148 per annum

Position Status:

Permanent; Full-time; 35 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a key member of the fundraising team, you will assist with the co-ordination of all fundraising programs and provide general assistance to the fundraising staff.

NATURE OF THE POSITION

This position functions as part of an integrated team consisting of two (2) development coordinators each with their own portfolio, each as a back-up to the other.

PORTFOLIO

  • Provide support to Director, Individual Giving in all Individual Giving fundraising programs
  • Monthly reconciliation of financial reports
  • Track Nevada Break Open Ticket activities, prepare reports as required and consult with gaming suppliers on a regular basis to maximize results
  • Process membership mailings including renewals
  • Process regional fundraising deposits and liaise with regions as required
  • Process and assist with Tribute giving
  • Handle the processing of receivables, including cheques, cash and monthly pledges
  • Coordinate the processing of all CHS tax receipts

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Service:

  • Maintain the fundraising database, Raiser's Edge, including the input of new donor files, changes to donor records and preparing lists and reports
  • Track fundraising activities, prepare reports as required and consult on a regular basis to maximize results
  • Process mailings
  • Provide support to and liaise with regions
  • Assist with monthly reports for internal use, including reports for Regional Directors and other departments
  • Assist with the co-ordination of fundraising events & activities
  • Field incoming/outgoing phone calls, including the processing of donations
  • Liaise with staff and volunteers in support of all fundraising programs
  • As a member of the FR team, participate in nurturing relationships with donors, potential and existing
  • Other duties as assigned

Administration:

  • Maintain and update donor files as required
  • Maintain and update monthly report files as required
  • Respond to phone, mail and email requests
  • Assist with donor communications and stewardship
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision and Volunteer Coordination:

  • Co-ordinate the daily workload of the Data Entry Clerk to ensure accurate, consistent, timely processing of all database input
  • Provide guidance and training for student placement/volunteers

Community Education:

  • Provide information to the public about programs and services via phone, written correspondence, e-mail and walk-in inquires
  • Participate in presentations and displays related to CHS fundraising
  • Provide assistance in community events and specialized fundraising campaigns such as the internal United Way Campaign, May Month, etc.
  • Professional Development:
  • Attend internal staff meetings
  • Attend and participate in workshops/seminars related to position
  • Keep up-to-date on issues and information related to position and agency
  • Acquire and maintain ASL proficiency required for the position (Intermediate-Plus)

LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reports to Director, Individual Giving

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-Secondary Diploma in Fundraising, Business, Marketing or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years experience in fundraising within a charitable/nonprofit environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and Raiser's Edge fundraising software
  • Strong written English skills
  • Strong detail and follow-through skills
  • Well organized and customer service-oriented
  • Ability to juggle simultaneous activities, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse environment
  • Occasional evening or weekend work (events, etc.)
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle is an asset; occasional travel e.g. local or to other offices
