Position: WAN Administrator
Location: Information Technology Department, Toronto
Start Date: Immediately
Minimum Start Salary: $52,741 per annum
Position Status: Permanent, Fulltime, 35 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for day-to-day technical supervision, administration, network security, support and update of the Society’s multi-server network (Internal Servers: Windows 2000 Servers, Windows 2003 Servers, SME Linux Servers, MS-SQL Server, eHealth ONE Mail, Internal Website, Helpdesk, Calendars).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Service:

•    Responsible for day-to-day user queries regarding operating systems, network and application performance concerns
•    Responsible for society ONE Mail System operations – in Registration Authority position works as liaison with eHealth Ontario government agency and CHS regional Local RA
•    Create and maintain up-to-date directory services (users, resources, calendars, e-mail distribution lists) on the network servers
•    Assist in installation and provide technical support for major software applications in financial, fundraising, audiology and employment services departments
•    Responsible for all staff access to CHS Internal website  
•    Monitor all routine network operations and observe all CHS IT standards and policies
•    Vigilantly maintain security for all CHS networks and support the privacy of all users, including Anti-Virus protection and prevention from unauthorized cyber attacks. 
•    Implement and maintain daily, monthly and yearly backup operations
•    Participate in Helpdesk support on office applications, networks, and workstations
•    Oversee the installation, update, and operation of the servers and workstations
•    Assist IT Manager with organizational and system upgrades
•    Maintain an inventory of hardware, software and related networking equipment
•    Monitor and maintain eHealth WAN Connections
•    Assist in maintenance of VOIP Telephony Systems
•    Oversee, operate and maintain Google Applications
•    Participate in other technical activities of the IT Department (research products, find cost effective solutions, build servers/workstations and train users)
•    Participate in disaster recovery planning
•    Report problem areas to the IT Director

Administration:

•    Keep track of technical documentation on servers and their updates
•    Record problems/issues into the tracking software
•    Update and maintain office files as required
•    Initiate and respond to correspondence and to phone calls as required
•    Receive, package and ship equipment
•    Initiate, develop and maintain user manuals, support documents and resource materials
•    Maintain accurate records and statistics
•    Assist IT Manager in researching and preparing for other projects as required

Community Education:

•    Participate in community events and special events as required, e.g. May Month, United Way Campaigns

Professional Development:

•    Acquire and maintain the ASL Proficiency requirement for this position (Intermediate Plus)
•    Attend internal staff meetings
•    Attend and participate in workshops/seminars related to position
•    Keep up with all changes in operating systems and applications used at CHS.
•    Actively share IT information with peers.
•    Keep up-to-date on issues and information related to the position and the agency

LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
•    Demonstrate confidentiality, tact and discretion
•    Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
•    Excellent problem solving abilities
•    Some travel in Ontario to regional offices
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet
•    Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn
•    Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse environment
