Minimum Start Salary: $45,284 per annum
Position Status: Permanent; Full-Time; 35 hours per week

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for:

•    web development, PHP coding, designing and building modules and components for Joomla, integration and continuous operation of components of the external CHS website with the goal of meeting the information needs of external visitors and internal staff
•    Videography (filming ASL and LSQ content) and video editing using Adobe Premiere
•    Maintaining video library and databases for the CHS website and maintaining camera and equipmen

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Service:

•    Build and manage the design and content of components of the CHS external website, including the development, integration and maintenance of content in four languages, file management, site development and the e-store
•    Film and edit ASL and LSQ content
•    Work with the project coordinator to schedule video shoots and web projects
•    Maintain video library, files, databases
•    Participate in research and projects
•    Work on projects as assigned by manager
•    Other duties as assigned

Administration:

•    Develop and monitor procedures to manage change control on updates and additions to the CHS website
•    Shoot video, edit, maintain and post content to the external website
•    Set up and ensure compatibility of videos (equipment settings, green screen, lighting, filing, etc.) for use on websites
•    Add and maintain links
•    Provide statistical reports as required
•    Maintain files and databases
•    Assist with department coverage of reception and customer service, sales of Marketing Communication products, distribution of materials, phones, etc.
•    Other duties as assigned

Community Education:

•    Liaise and consult with Sign Language Coordinator - MC, CHS Web Master, and Provincial Program Manager Marketing Communications to acquire appropriate content and to encourage active and appropriate use of CHS Website
•    Liaise with external communities as required (e.g. IT staff of external businesses who have special contracts with CHS to develop sign language content)
•    Participate in community and special events as required e.g. United Way Campaign and May Month, etc.

Professional Development:

•    Acquire and maintain the ASL Proficiency requirement for this position (Intermediate Plus)
•    Attend internal staff meetings
•    Attend and participate in workshops/seminars related to position
•    Keep up to date on issues and information related to position and agency

LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

•    Provincial Program Manager, Marketing Communications

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Web Management or equivalent
•    3-5 years experience in web design and maintenance, building web applications in collaboration with web and project teams
•    Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
•    Experience coding in PHP
•    Proven knowledge of and experience with the Joomla CMS and building Joomla components
•    Proficiency in PhotoShop CS2 and/or graphic design an asset
•    Experience with Linux, MySQL, Flash development an asset
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet
•    Proficiency in written English and American Sign Language (ASL); French and La langue des signes québécoise (LSQ) are assets
•    Demonstrated sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse environment
